About Us

The River City Chorale has been bringing fine choral music to the greater Sacramento region for over four decades. Founded in 1977, the Chorale’s mission is to inspire and enrich our community through high-quality and diverse choral performances.

The Chorale is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that relies on membership dues, ticket sales, business and individual donors, and fundraiser support to maintain a modest annual operating budget.

The members work diligently preparing and performing three distinctively different sets of concerts each season. The concerts include a diverse repertoire including classical, folk, multicultural, pop, jazz, and musical theatre.

While making quality choral music, chorale members enjoy building community through social interaction and shared experiences at rehearsals, retreats, concerts, parties, and other events.

The River City Chorale has embarked on an international tour every three years since 1984. Past destinations include Canada, the British Isles, Brazil, and fourteen countries in Western Europe. In June 2022 the Chorale plans to travel to England and Scotland.

Membership is open to anyone aged 18 years and above, subject to audition and the needs of each vocal section. Rehearsals are held in the Sacramento Arden-Arcade area on Monday evenings from September to May.

Chorale members volunteer to serve on the Board of Directors and various committees to handle all administrative duties. The Board contracts annually for the services of the artistic director and piano accompanist. Annual operating expenses also include payments for visiting musicians, rehearsal and concert venues, and storage cost for sheet music.

SPECIAL PERFORMANCES. The Chorale and the smaller Chamber Choir enjoy performing at special events and private parties. If you are interested in a special vocal performance, please call 916-967-9221.
